Massage Techniques
Generally during the course of a massage session I combine several of the techniques below during a massage to promote balance in the body. I do tailor each massage so that it is unqiue for each person and produces the best massage depending on what the body needs at that moment.
Deep Tissue is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas.
Swedish Massage is a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles and promote circulation. Swedish Massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.
Reflexology (Foot Massage) is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. Applying pressure to these reflex areas, using the thumb, finger and hand will result in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body.
Scalp Massage helps keep your hair healthy and can also promote hair growth. Nourishment is sent to the capillary vessels in hair papillae to activate the hair cells. Massaging the scalp is very relaxing and usually helps the client have a better massage overall.
Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility, and prevent injuries.
